If travelling from:
Glasgow - Take the M74 towards Carlisle. Leave the M74 at junction 14 and take the A702 signposted Carlisle, Elvanfoot, Thornhill. After about 2 miles, turn right under the M74, still on the A702 but signposted Elvanfoot, Leadhills, Glasgow. After going under the M74 take the second exit at the roundabout, still on the A702 but signposted Elvanfoot, Leadhills, Thornhill. After a further 16.3 miles, including a drive down the scenic Dalveen Pass, take a left turn at the T junction with the A76, signposted Dumfries. After 1.4 miles take a right turn onto the A702 signposted Penpont, Moniaive. A further 0.4 miles on, and just before the bridge over the river Nith, turn left onto the B731. [Don’t take the sharp left turn up a hill at the same junction]. Holmhill is the white house 40 metres ahead on the right hand side.
Edinburgh - Take the A702 signposted Biggar, Carlisle. After passing through Biggar, join the southbound M74 at Abington. Leave the M74 at the first junction (junction 14) and take the A702 signposted Carlisle, Elvanfoot, Thornhill. After about 2 miles, turn right under the M74, still on the A702 but signposted Elvanfoot, Leadhills, Glasgow. After going under the M74 take the second exit at the roundabout, still on the A702 but signposted Elvanfoot, Leadhills, Thornhill. The South - Leave the M6 at junction 22 and take the A75 signposted Dumfries, Stranraer. After 21.5 miles you encounter a series of roundabouts. At the first three of these, remain on the A75 signposted Stranraer. At the fourth roundabout take the fifth exit onto the A76 signposted Kilmarnock. Proceed on the A76 for 12.4 miles, then take a let turn onto the B731 signposted Moniaive, Penpont. After 1 mile on the B731, and 40 metres before a T junction onto the A702, Holmill is the white house on the left.
